Île de Ré is small, almost entirely flat, and made for exploring slowly, just 30km long and 5km at its widest point, with 80km of bike paths connecting its beaches, salt marshes and harbour villages. Many visitors leave the car behind and get around by bicycle for the whole stay.
The island is known for its beautiful sandy beaches, exceptional sunshine, unspoilt countryside and picturesque harbours, along with a number of thalassotherapy centres for a proper day of rest.
La Noue's village square is 750m away, an easy walk or ride, with a bakery, fishmonger, charcuterie and restaurants, plus a daily market through the main season.
La Flotte and Saint-Martin-de-Ré are 5–10 minutes by car for supermarkets. La Rochelle's old port, with its 17th-century streets and aquarium, is around 20–25 minutes away.

The local market"Really lovely house in a great location, edge of town, quiet, but easy walk or cycle to everywhere. Photos do not do it justice! Private courtyard feel, plenty of outside space to lounge, great pool area, outside kitchen was a big plus. BBQ every night. Hosts were great, we stayed for almost two weeks and would happily have stayed longer."
"Great welcome from Martin and very good communication. The house is faithful to the description and the pool is very nice and perfectly suitable for children. The house is only 5 minutes by bike from the village square. We had a lovely stay there."
"The house is laid out very well for a family, you can cook and see the gated pool. The pool is warm and great fun for the kids even when overcast. The property is not overlooked and the view is of large trees nearby. Very peaceful."
"Me and the family absolutely love Martin and his family's property! We have children aged 2, 3 and 11 and the swimming pool with the security around was great for peace of mind. Plenty of room for everyone. Martin and his wife were so friendly and helpful with recommendations."
"We had a great week at Martin's house. Spacious, sunny and comfortable to live in. The pool with dining area and barbecue is really convenient. Martin was reachable without any problem for information and good little corners on the island. We will be back!"
"The house is situated in a wonderful location, five minutes' walk to the beach and surrounded by similar homes in a quiet, picturesque area. The secluded garden is lovely and the large pool surrounded by plants and flowers was wonderful for cooling off. Beautiful and spacious."
